How DatumPilot uses cookies and similar storage, and how you control them.

This Cookie Policy explains how DatumPilot uses cookies and similar browser storage. We use strictly necessary cookies to run the service and preserve core app preferences. These preferences are necessary storage; only analytics storage is optional and remains off until you opt in. This consent model is designed to meet ePrivacy and GDPR/UK GDPR consent requirements.

Cookie categories

Our consent control uses two categories:

  • Necessary— required for sign-in, security, and core app functionality. This category is always on and cannot be turned off. It also covers preference storage (such as theme and density) so the app stays consistent between visits, and it stores your consent choice itself. These preferences are necessary storage, so there is no separate “preferences” toggle.
  • Analytics — helps us understand product usage to improve DatumPilot. Off until you opt in. Analytics are provided by PostHog and are not yet enabled in production.

Managing your choices

When you first visit, a consent banner lets you accept analytics, reject optional cookies, or open preferences to choose. Your choice is stored in your browser so we can honor it on future visits, and you can change it at any time through the cookie preferences control.

You can also clear cookies and site storage through your browser settings. Blocking necessary cookies may prevent parts of the service from working.

Global Privacy Control (GPC)

If your browser sends a Global Privacy Control (GPC) signal, we treat it as a valid request to keep optional analytics off. While the signal is active, analytics stays disabled and the consent banner and preferences dialog say so.

Cookies and storage we use

  • dpv2_cookie_preferences (necessary) — stores your cookie choice so we can honor it on return visits. Kept for up to 180 days.
  • Authentication and session storage (necessary, set by Clerk) — keeps you signed in and secure. Duration is set by the session.
  • Analytics storage (optional, PostHog) — set only if you opt in, and not enabled in production. Not set unless you opt in.
